Mets May Now Try To Sell Mini Stakes In Team

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, the New York Mets may now try to sell ten minority stakes in the company worth $20 million each, as opposed to one $200 million stake. Talks fell apart between the Mets and David Einhorn, and it was reported earlier today that the deal between the two parties were dead. In a statement, Einhorn said, “It is clear that it will not be possible for me to consummate the transaction on the terms that the Sterling-Mets organization and I originally agreed to several months ago. The extensive nature of changes that were proposed to me at the last minute has made a successful transaction impossible.” Fred Wilpon, Jeff Wilpon, and Saul Katz, are being sued by Bernie Madoff trustee Irving Picard for allegedly profiting off the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme.
