'Halftime Report' Traders Talk Retail After The Pandemic

On CNBC's "Fast Money Halftime Report," traders discussed life in the retail sector after the pandemic is over. There are conflicting views, as some think it will return to pre-COVID levels while others believed it's permanently changed.

Steve Weiss believes the future for Gap GPS will be worse than before the pandemic because more things are online now. He thinks traffic in malls will not come back in the same way.

Scott Wapner questioned the thought of consumers going back out to feel normal again.

"I think there will be a pent-up flurry of activity from consumers," said Liz Young.

The companies that can attain revenue online and in-person after the pandemic will be the real winners, said Young.

Retailers that benefit from specific brands could be hurt. Nike's NKE increase of online sales could hurt Foot Locker FL.

"Why not just own Nike itself instead of owning Foot Locker," said  Joe Terranova.
