OpenAI Inc. is reportedly in discussions to secure funding of nearly $40 billion from its major suppliers, NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA), Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), and Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT).
NVIDIA could potentially invest up to $20 billion in OpenAI, while Amazon is considering an investment of $10 billion or more. Microsoft, which already holds a 27% stake in OpenAI, is also expected to make a significant investment, the Financial Times reported on Thursday.
According to another report by The Information, the funding that OpenAI is seeking from these tech giants is $60 billion.
It is unclear whether the potential $20 billion investment from NVIDIA would be in addition to the $100 billion deal or if it would lead to a revision of the terms between the two companies, the FT reported.
OpenAI, Microsoft, Amazon, and Nvidia did not immediately respond to Benzinga‘s requests for comment.
