Lean Hog Futures Little Changed

February lean hogs are trading at 61.60, up 0.05 cents/lb. April lean hogs are trading at 66.20, up 0.25 cents/lb. Lean hog futures are trading on both sides of unchanged. Chatter about weather impacts on animal movement and consumer demand is making the rounds. Friday's USDA hog slaughter came was 437,000 head Friday and Saturday's was 259,000 head. Total hog slaughter for the week was 2.443 million head versus 2.535 million head the previous week and 2.430 million head a year ago.
