Lean Hog Futures Trading Higher

February lean hogs are trading at 54.70, up 0.67 cents/lb. April lean hogs are trading at 60.72, up 0.57 cents/lb. Lean hog futures are trading higher just after the open. Market talk about weather, cash prices and consumer demand is making the rounds. Friday's USDA hog slaughter was 431,000 head and Saturday's was 357,000 head. The total for the last week was 2.54 million head, up 4.8 percent from a year ago.
