Live Cattle Futures Little Changed

December live cattle is trading at 102.80, up 0.07 cents/lb. February live cattle is trading at 104.00, down 0.30 cents/lb. April live cattle is trading at 104.02, down 0.32 cents/lb. Live cattle futures are trading steady and on both sides of unchanged just after the open. Market talk about weather for consumer demand and the upcoming U.S. election is making the rounds. Friday's USDA cattle slaughter was 109,000 head and Saturday's was 40,000 head. The total for last week was 606,000 head versus 616,000 the previous week and up 7.4 percent from last year at this time.
