U.S. Dollar Index Trading Higher, Job Cuts Rise

The September U.S. Dollar Index is trading at 95.82, up 0.30. The U.S. dollar index is trading at the session highs. Challenger, Gray and Christmas reported that corporate layoffs the U.S. rose 19 percent on the month to 45,346 during July. It was the second month in a row of an increase. Market chatter about global headline news and money flows has kept both buyers and sellers active. The Department of Labor's weekly jobless claims data is due out at 8:30 a.m. ET.
