Toyota's September Sales Grow Aided By Strong Demand; 1H Sales Jump As Semiconductor Shortage Eases

Toyota Motor Corporation TM said its total global production remained flat in September to 1.037 million vehicles, including subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor Co and Hino Motors Ltd.

Worldwide sales, including subsidiaries, grew 10.5% to 1.003 million units.

For Toyota, September's global production rose 1.5% to 900,919 vehicles, and sales improved 11.6% to 921,308 vehicles.

Year-to-date, total sales increased 6.5% to 8.27 million vehicles, and production shot up 8.2% to 8.51 million units.

For the first half of FY24, April - September, sales increased 8.3% to 5.596 million units, and production jumped 10.1% to 5.738 million vehicles.

Sales and production in 1H grew as a result of the easing impact of semiconductor shortages in contrast to the COVID-19 spread and semiconductor shortages in the previous year, Toyota said.
