Crypto Fever Hits 2024 Presidential Race As Yet Another Candidate Embraces Bitcoin Donations

Zinger Key Points

Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy has become the second presidential candidate to accept Bitcoin BTC/USD donations following Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s announcement just two days ago.

What Happened: Ramaswamy, on Sunday, made the proclamation while speaking at Bitcoin 2023, a conference held in Miami, Florida.

During his speech, he encouraged others to make the 2024 election “a referendum on fiat currency.”

The entrepreneur showcased a QR code while on stage, which when scanned, would redirect users to a payment gateway that offers a variety of payment options, including Bitcoin.

In addition to Bitcoin, BitPay, the payment gateway he chose, supports other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin Cash BCH/USD, Ethereum ETH/USD, ApeCoin (APE), Litecoin LTC/USD, Dogecoin DOGE/USD and Shiba Inu SHIB/USD.

Ramaswamy said that donors will be awarded a non-fungible token, or NFT, that can be claimed upon donating.

Why It Matters: Saying, “Give $1,” Ramaswamy is seeking contributions for his potential bid in the 2024 campaign.

Accepting Bitcoin donations opens a new avenue for political fundraising and Ramaswamy predicts that it will further fuel his fundraising efforts.
