Rally Is Accelerating In The Last Hour (SPY, QQQQ, CAT, BP, BIDU)

The rally in U.S. equity markets has been very strong throughout the day and has been accelerating into the last hour of trading. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is now 263 points higher at 10,162. The SPDR S&P 500 ETF SPY has jumped 2.48% to $108.68 on today's session. Volume, however, has been light with only 219 million shares trading hands versus a daily average of over 340 million. A little more volume would be nice. The PowerShares QQQ Trust ETF QQQQ has gained 2.78% thus far, and is now trading at $45.05. Volume has been very light in this widely traded ETF. Caterpillar CAT has been the biggest Dow gainer today, as the shares have surged 5.39% to $59.85 as optimism about global growth has returned at least temporarily. BP BP is paring some of yesterday's devastating losses. The stock has climbed 10.95% to $32.42 on the day. BP continues to attract huge volume, with over 200 million shares trading hands. Chinese search engine Baidu BIDU has jumped 7.26% today, making it one of the leaders on the Nasdaq. For investors and traders that are looking for a momentum name to add to their portfolio, take a look at BIDU.
