A123 Systems Trades Up 50% on CNBC Mention

A123 Systems AONE, a U.S. maker of electric-car batteries, announced this morning that it has developed an improved version of its lithium-ion cells that the company believes can cut the costs of rechargeable and hybrid vehicles. The stock was trading up in the pre-market on this news and began the day up around 15%. A mention by CNBC, however, has sent AONE shares into the stratosphere. At last check, the stock was up around 54% to $1.60. A123 Systems, Inc., designs, develops, manufactures and sells rechargeable lithium-ion and energy storage systems. In the transportation industry market, the Company works with global automotive manufacturers and tier 1 suppliers to develop batteries and battery systems for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and electric vehicles, (EVs).
