First Solar, Apple, Groupon Falling On Heavy Volume

A number of prominent stocks are losing ground during Monday's trading session on unusually heavy volume. These include First Solar FSLR, Apple AAPL, Groupon GRPN and SodaStream International SODA. Shares of First Solar FSLR have lost 6.51% to $28.07 during the session after the SEC said that it is investigating the company in relation to a release of information regarding one of its solar power plants. The company announced in its annual filings that it had conducted an internal investigation regarding a potential violation of Regulation FD relating to information it released about its Topaz Solar Farm. Volume in FSLR is running at 99% above its daily average. Apple has shed more than 2% on Monday on heavier than usual volume after a German court dismissed a patent lawsuit it had filed against Samsung. Around 22.5 million AAPL shares have already changed hands on the day compared to a 3-month daily average of 14.6 million. Shares of Groupon have lost roughly 4% on slightly elevated volume on Monday. A downgrade of another recent internet IPO, Zynga ZNGA may be hurting sentiment in that name. At last check, GRPN shares were trading at $18.49. SodaStream shares are down 7% to $37.62 on volume which is running 69% above average. The stock has been under pressure since releasing its quarterly earnings results last week.
