US Speaker Nancy Pelosi's Husband Becomes Victim Of Violent Assault; Motive Remains Unknown

Early Friday morning, an assailant broke into the Pelosi residence in San Francisco and violently assaulted Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The assailant is in custody, and the motivation for the attack is under investigation, Drew Hammill, spokesman for Nancy Pelosi, stated.
Paul Pelosi was taken to the hospital, where he received medical care and is likely to recover fully.
Nancy Pelosi was not in San Francisco at the time.
In August, Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan briefly crashed Twitter Inc.'s TWTR Chinese counterpart Weibo Corp WB, as millions flocked online to discuss her trip.
Beijing saw Pelosi's trip as a provocation as it considered Taiwan a part of its territory. Pelosi is a longtime critic of China and has been a forthright human rights advocate.
After Pelosi's landing, China halted natural sand exports to Taiwan and some fish and fruit imports from the island.
Beijing also announced missile tests and military drills encircling the island.
