Simone Biles Helps Team USA Gymnastics Win Gold, Can She Win All-Around Championship Again? Here's How Much A $100 Bet Pays Out

by Chris Katje Benzinga Staff Writer

Team USA Gymnast Simone Biles helped herself and her team complete a redemption tour from the 2020 Summer Olympics with a gold medal win at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Biles now returns to the individual all-around championship on Thursday with a chance at more redemption.

What Happened: Teammates Biles and Suni Lee will compete for the gold medal in the 2024 Summer Olympics Individual All-Around.

While Biles dropped out of the 2020 Olympics gymnastics event to prioritize mental health, she is the former champion of the event at the 2016 Olympics and at several World Championships. Without Biles competing in the event in the 2020 Summer Olympics, Lee stepped up and won the gold medal.

Thursday's competition, which airs on NBC and streams on Peacock at 12:15 p.m. ET, will mark the first time that two gold medalists in the event will face off against each other.

Betting odds from DraftKings Inc (NASDAQ:DKNG) show that Biles and Lee are expected to finish first and second and take home the gold and silver medals respectively. Here are the betting odds to win the gold medal in the 2024 Olympics Women's Gymnastics Individual All-Around:

  • Simone Biles: -575
  • Suni Lee: +450
  • Rebecca Andrade (Brazil): +500
  • Qiu Qiyuan (China): +800
  • Alice D'Amato (Italy): +2,500

Betting $100 on Biles to win the gold medal would return a profit of $17.39 if she wins the individual all-around event.

A win and second place finish by Biles and Lee in any order would give USA the gold and silver again. In 2016, Aly Raisman got the silver medal.

Andrade won the silver medal behind Lee in the 2020 Olympics and took home the silver medal in the 2023 World Championships behind Biles. The Brazilian won the 2022 World Championship for the same event.

In the team all-around, Team USA won with a score of 171.926 followed by Italy at 165.64 and Brazil at 164.497.

Why It's Important: Biles is one of the most famous Olympians of the last decade. She has the chance to add to her records and impressive medal counts.

The Team USA all-around gold medal gave Biles eight Olympic medals to make her the most decorated American gymnast in Olympics history.

Medals won by Biles and Lee could help add to the USA medal count.

At the time of writing, USA currently ranks first in the overall medal count with 28, besting France (22) and Great Britain (17).

Team USA trailed in the gold medal count with four, compared to leaders China (8), Australia/Japan (7) and France/Great Britain (6).

USA was favored to win the most medals and gold medals ahead of the Olympics. The country has won the most medals in many recent years and has led the way in the most gold medals in the past three Summer Olympics.

Gymnastics remains one of the most popular sports for American viewers. It could provide a boost to media rights partner Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA).
