The University of Michigan football team consistently ranks among the top colleges for producing NFL Draft picks each year.
Here's a look at the history and what's in store for the 2024 NFL Draft.
Michigan Wolverines Draft History: The team has seen 401 players selected in the NFL Draft, marking it as one of the top programs in developing professional talent.
With 401 players drafted, the Wolverines are tied with Alabama for fifth place among college football teams all time. Ranking ahead of Michigan are Notre Dame (525), USC (523), Ohio State (485) and Oklahoma (414).
Michigan also ranks as one of the top programs when it comes to having players drafted in the first round, ranking among the top 10 teams.
In the 2023 NFL Draft it was Mazi Smith selected by the Dallas Cowboys with the 26th pick that became the latest Wolverine taken in the first round. Smith helped the Wolverines extend its streak of a first round pick to five straight years.
Michigan has had at least one player taken in each NFL Draft dating back to 1938, one of the few teams with this accomplishment.
In the 2017 NFL Draft, Michigan had 11 players selected, tying for the fourth highest in a single draft. During the 2020 NFL Draft, the Wolverines saw 10 of their players picked.

This means that 5.6% of the 321 players at the NFL Draft Combine came from the University of Michigan, making the school well represented.
Among the key Michigan players expected to get selected in the 2024 NFL Draft are J.J. McCarthy (QB), Kris Jenkins (DL), Roman Wilson (WR), Zak Zinter (OL), Mike Sainristil (DB) and Blake Corum (RB).
McCarthy is among a group of multiple quarterbacks expected to be drafted in the first round.
Current odds from sportsbook DraftKings Inc DKNG list the over/under on McCarthy at 5.5, with odds of -150 to go under 5.5, suggesting he will be taken in the first five draft picks.
Odds for McCarthy to go third overall stand at +210, with odds to go fourth overall stand at +175 and fifth overall stands at +275.
