Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Free Trial Drops After Season 2 Launch

Microsoft Corp.'s MSFT Activision announced that a free trial for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is set to launch one day after the release of Season 2.

Season 2, starting on Feb. 7, introduces significant updates to the first-person shooter, including new maps, a battle pass, and cosmetics.

The trial, running from Feb. 8 to 12, offers access to the Season 2 map Stash House and eight other multiplayer maps across various modes like Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Team Gun Game, along with full access to Modern Warfare Zombies.

Season 2 also brings substantial additions to multiplayer. This includes four new core 6v6 maps, consisting of three entirely new maps and a remaster of Das Haus.

Additionally, there are two "otherworldly" themed map variants based on Skidrow and Terminal. A new War map named Operation Tin Man is introduced, along with five new game modes and a Vortex Playlist.

Other updates include Season 2 Ranked Play, the introduction of the Ninja Vest for silent movement, and bonus knife and throwing star ammo.

In the Zombies mode, the Dark Aether story continues with new challenges, schematics, and the addition of Warlord Keres at the Killhouse in the Orlov Military Base.

Release times for Season 2 vary by region, with specific times listed for North America, the UK, Western Europe, and Japan:

  • West Coast North America: 9am PT
  • East Coast North America: 12pm ET
  • UK: 5pm GMT
  • Western Europe: 6pm CET
  • Japan: 2am JST December 8
