3 Awards And A Pair Of Handcuffs: Rapper Killer Mike Had A Wild Grammy Night

The 66th Annual Grammy Awards took an unexpected turn for rapper Killer Mike as he was arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge, shortly after winning three awards.

What Happened: The Washington Post reported on Monday that the Atlanta-based rapper, whose real name is Michael Santiago Render, was arrested at the Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday night. The arrest followed a “physical altercation” on the 700 block of Chick Hearn Court, near the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where the awards were held.

Render was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and was in the process of being released. Further details about the alleged altercation are yet to be disclosed.

Render’s arrest came as a surprise, as he had a successful evening at the Grammys, winning the Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album awards. His album “Michael,” released in June, features artists such as Andre 3000, Young Thug, and Ty Dolla $ign.

Despite his arrest, Render remained active on social media, reposting congratulatory messages from fans.
