Apple Watch Users, Spotify Has Just Improved Your Music Listening Experience

Spotify Technology S.A. SPOT has updated Apple Inc.'s AAPL Apple Watch experience for its app.

What Happened: A new update to the Spotify Apple Watch app includes larger controls, swipe motions and an improved library view.

The company was working on updating the Apple Watch experience for its app after the streaming was temporarily disrupted by an errant watchOS update, reported Apple Insider.

With the new updates, the user interface has been rearranged, including larger tap surfaces, more significant artwork, new animations and added functionality. For instance, users can now simply swipe to like a song.

The interface is designed to ensure that users can easily navigate their music library and podcast and download content quickly for offline consumption. Additionally, new podcast episodes will feature a blue dot so that users can identify those conveniently, the report stated.

Why It's Important: While the Spotify update should install automatically, users can navigate to the App Store to force-update the app if it hasn't already. Users will require the latest version of Spotify's iOS app to get the updated Apple Watch experience.

For the unversed, Spotify and Apple got into a public spat over the iPhone maker's App Store policies. The audio streaming company initially accused Apple of hindering its newly launched audiobook initiative but later released an update adhering to the iPhone maker's rules, according to The Verge.
