Grand Circus, a technology training institute based out of downtown Detroit, later this month will host its annual Detroit Google Demo Day.

The event will take place Friday, March 30, and gives entrepreneurs from the U.S., Canada and Mexico the chance to pitch their businesses in front of a panel of judges, investors and Detroit peers. The winner will travel to Alphabet Inc's GOOG GOOGL head office in Mountain View, California, and will meet with the company's investors and mentors for a chance at funding.

Companies looking to raise $1 million to $5 million are eligible to apply. The only other condition is that the company needs to demonstrate traction through funding raised, revenue and customer growth.

SPLT, a ride-sharing app, took home the top prize during 2016's Detroit Google Demo Day and got to meet with the co-founder of AOL, Steve Case.

"Startups are effectively diversifying Michigan's economy. Google Demo Day is a great opportunity to gain national attention for some of the small businesses making an impact on our economy," said Damien Rocchi, CEO of Grand Circus. "Michigan's startup and entrepreneurial community has grown significantly in recent years. This annual event has highlighted some of the most innovative businesses from our area. We're excited to showcase eight more amazing startups at this year's event."
