Why TheStreet's Jill Malandrino Thinks The AOL Deal Won't Create A Sympathy Play For Yahoo

Jill Malandrino was recently a guest on #PreMarket Prep, a daily trading idea radio show hosted by Joel Elconin and Dennis Dick. Tune in to the daily broadcast live Monday-Friday at 8 a.m. ET here.

TheStreet's OptionsProfits Product Development Manager Jill Malandrino commented on the AOL, Inc. AOL and Verizon Communications Inc. VZ deal.

Malandrino addressed the potential for a sympathy play with Yahoo! Inc. YHOO and felt that comparing Yahoo to AOL was like comparing apples to oranges.

While there could be sympathy plays that create a swing trade in Yahoo, it not would last over the long-term, according to Malandrino.

Malandrino added that AOL took a different approach to growth and was a stronger platform while Yahoo still wanted to be a stand-alone company, pursuing initiatives they have have been working on, however, "AOL was certainly the better choice” for Verizon.

Yahoo! Inc. closed at $43.84 Tuesday, up 0.55 percent, while AOL, Inc. closed at $50.52, up 18.62 percent.
