He joined Brookings in December 2013 after 30 years on the staff of The Wall Street Journal where, most recently, he was economics editor and wrote the weekly Capital column. He is a contributing correspondent to The Wall Street Journal and appears frequently on NPR’s Morning Edition.

Thomas Simpson, Former Federal Reserve Officer and Author of "Financial Markets, Banking, and Monetary Policy"

At the board, Thomas Simpson was a senior officer, with responsibilities in the area of monetary policy, economic forecasting and financial markets, and served as an officer of the Federal Open Market Committee. In addition, he represented the Board in various outside organizations, including the Committee on Financial Markets of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris.

Richard Vague is currently one of the managing partners of Gabriel Investments, as well as the author of "The Next Economic Disaster," a book with a new approach for predicting and preventing financial crises. He serves on the U.S. State Department’s Advisory Committee on International Economic Policy. Vague is also editor of the blog and email newsletter service Delanceyplace.com and of the website Debt-economics.org.

Dr. King Banaian (@repbanaian), Former Minnesota State Representative

Dr. King Banaian is a professor in the Department of Economics at St. Cloud State University. He holds the Ph.D. in Economics from the Claremont Graduate School. He is author of "The Ukrainian Economy since Independence." He directs the Center for Economic Education at SCSU. He is a fellow of the Armenian International Policy Research Group in Washington, DC and Yerevan, Armenia. He is a past representative of the north and east portions of St. Cloud and Haven Township in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
