SunTrust’s Bob Peck said Monday on CNBC that Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR) CEO Dick Costolo may not remain with the company much longer and that the question of Costolo’s successor is the No. 1 question he receives from institutional investors.

"We think there's a good chance he's not there within a year," according to Peck.

Twitter recently traded at $38.16, up 2.9 percent. Shares popped as high as $38.74, up nearly 5 percent, shortly after Peck's comments.

Peck also thought Twitter CFO Anthony Noto was not a candidate for the CEO position, which left the answer open for speculation.

SunTrust maintained a Buy rating on Twitter.
