Microsoft launches Office 365 worldwide

Today, Microsoft announced that it is launching Office 365, the company's newest cloud offering, to the world. Office 365 is a direct competitor with Google Docs and brings the Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online and Lync Online together in one, “always up-to-date” cloud service that is available for a monthly subscription fee.

Microsoft first began testing Office 365 last year with customers and the service has been met with good feedback so far. Office 365 also touts a 99.99% uptime guarantee for email services, something that will be very useful to companies.

Plans for Office 365 start at $6 per user a month. There are higher up plans that include licenses for Microsoft Office desktop versions and lower plans that include basic email support. There is also a 30 day free trial of Office 365.
