Capstone Turbine Corp was organized in 1988 and reincorporated as a Delaware Corporation on June 22, 2000. The Company develops, manufactures, markets and services microturbine technology solutions for use in stationary distributed power generation applications, including cogeneration, renewable energy, natural resources and critical power supply. It makes various sizes of MicroTurbines and includes 30kW, 65kW, and 200kW configurations. In addition, the microturbines are used as a battery charging generators for hybrid electric vehicle applications. Microturbines allow customers to produce power on-site in parallel with the electric grid or stand alone when no utility grid is available. It also provides various accessories, including rotary gas compressors with digital controls, heat recovery modules for CHP applications, dual mode controllers that allow automatic transition between grid connect and stand-alone modes, batteries with digital controls for stand-alone/dual-mode operations, power servers for multipacked installations, and protocol converters for Internet access, as well as frames, exhaust ducting, and installation hardware. It has operations in North America, Europe, Asia as well as Australia. The Company sells its products through distributors and original equipment manufacturers. The Company competes with other companies who have microturbine products, including FlexEnergy and Turbec S.p.A.
