Invesco's (NYSE:
IVZ) PowerShares unit, the fourth-largest U.S. ETF issuer, will introduce the PowerShares DWA SmallCap Technical Leaders Portfolio (NYSE:
DWAS) on Thursday July 19, 2012.
The PowerShares DWA SmallCap Technical Leaders Portfolio will be the fourth PowerShares ETF based on the technical leaders strategy from Dorsey Wright & Associates (DWA). Technical Leaders are companies identified by the DWA selection methodology that possess strong relative strength characteristics compared to their peers and industry benchmarks, according to a statement issued by PowerShares.
DWAS will track the Dorsey Wright SmallCap Technical Leaders Index, which includes approximately 200 companies. The new ETF will be rebalanced on a quarterly basis.
Other PowerShares funds employing the Dorsey Wright methodology include the PowerShares DWA Developed Markets Technical Leaders Portfolio (NYSE:
PIZ), the PowerShares DWA Emerging Markets Technical Leaders Portfolio (NYSE:
PIE) and the PowerShares DWA Technical Leaders Portfolio (NYSE:
PDP). PDP is the largest of that trio with $553.7 million in assets under management.
