Trump's Niece Says 2nd Term For Ex-President Would Be 'Fatal' To America As His Cognitive Difficulties 'Seem To Be Getting Worse'

Zinger Key Points
  • Trump's confusion and verbal lapses are starting to get more attention from mental health professionals, says his niece.
  • On the other hand, Biden may be old but he is not 'declining' in any substantive sense, she says.

Even as Donald Trump inches closer to clinching the Republican nomination, his niece Mary Trump, a clinical psychologist, said on Monday it may not be smooth sailing for her uncle as he faces multiple headwinds en route to a second term.

Donald’s Cognitive Difficulties: Two of Donald Trump’s speeches delivered over the weekend left viewers shocked about his health, Mary Trump said in her latest substack post. The psychologist said it wasn’t the “plethora of lies” and “fascistic rhetoric” that caught people’s attention but his “phonemic paraphasias.”

“That is the type of mental confusion that might leave one saying ‘Venzwhere’ instead of ‘Venezuela’ or ‘wall mongers’ instead of ‘warmongers,'” she said. The podcaster and best-selling author noted that he used “Obama” instead of President Joe Biden.

“Donald's confusion and verbal lapses are starting to get more attention from mental health professionals who are publicly speculating about what might be going on with him,” Mary Trump said. More importantly, former members of his administration were starting to speak on this, she added.

Mary Trump noted that former White House Advisor Alyssa Farah Griffin said in a CNN interview that “Donald's cognitive difficulties seem to be getting worse.”

“He is not as sharp as he was in 2016 and not even as sharp as he was in 2020…There’s a lack of sharpness in what he’s saying and a lack . . . of clarity,” Griffin reportedly said.

The ex-president’s niece said Biden may be old “but he is not ‘declining’ in any substantive sense.” “Donald is also old, but he can't even seem to remember who the current president is, and he seems to be having increasing difficulty stringing together a coherent sentence,” she said.

Mary Trump clarified that her uncle hadn’t been like this earlier. “Donald's early interactions with the press, as well as his performances in depositions from the 1980s and 1990s — arrogant but measured and restrained — paint a very different picture from what we're seeing now,” she said.

Biden In Control: While stating that Biden has been a long-time stutterer and that he has been making gaffes for years, Mary Trump said, “The incessant mentions of his chronological age often overshadow what people say about his acuity behind closed doors: namely, that he is in command of facts and in good shape for his age.”

The psychologist quoted comments from General Mark Milley, who in a media appearance had said Biden is “very, very engaged in issues of very serious matters of war and peace and life and death.”

Mary Trump also noted that when Donald Trump was in office, no one who was telling the truth had said he read his briefings or was very engaged in any serious issues. “His recent public appearances make it clear that he would be even less equipped if, by some tragic circumstance, he were allowed back in the Oval Office,” she said.

“I know Donald, and he has no moral compass. He and his enablers have driven us into treacherous territory, and it is becoming more clear by the day that a second Trump term would be fatal to the American experiment,” she said.
