Nothing Phone 2a Blends Interesting Design With A Clean Interface For $349, But There's A Catch

Carl Pei’s LED-toting Nothing Phone 2a has been launched, and buyers in the U.S. can get their hands on it, but there is a catch. It is a budget-friendly device that blends affordability with an interesting design, but you will need to know this if you want to buy one.

What Happened: Nothing Phone 2a marks the company's foray into the affordable device segment, with prices beginning at 329 euros for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model.

A 12GB/256GB version is available at 379 euros.

In the U.S., the 256GB variant is priced at $349, but it’s exclusively available through a developer program and is compatible only with T-Mobile.

The Phone 2a features a 6.7-inch, 120Hz OLED screen with Gorilla Glass 5, a substantial 5,000mAh battery, and a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset.

The design is unmistakable, with a transparent back panel and a sleek monochrome UI. The camera module includes a 50MP snapper with optical image stabilization and a 50MP ultrawide angle snapper.

Despite its budget-friendly price tag, the Phone 2a comes with features often absent in this category, such as NFC for contactless payments and a minimalist UI.

However, the device is only available through Nothing’s developer program in the U.S. and is compatible solely with T-Mobile’s network.

Why It Matters: The Phone 2a has already garnered significant attention, even before its official release.

Aravind Srinivas, the CEO of Perplexity AI, a company backed by Jeff Bezos, praised the Nothing Phone 2a on Twitter, calling it “beautiful” and expressing his intention to purchase one.
