CEO Of Jeff Bezos-Backed Perplexity AI Lauds Carl's Pei's New Nothing Phone 2a: 'I Am Getting One'

Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas has a new favorite piece of technology – the upcoming Nothing Phone 2a.

What Happened: Srinivas posted a tweet calling Carl Pei's upcoming Nothing phone "beautiful," adding that he is buying one.

"This looks beautiful. I am getting one. @nothing."

While the Nothing Phone 2a has not yet launched, detailed high-resolution smartphone renders have been out for a while now, leaving nothing to the imagination.

The phone sports the usual transparent design that Nothing has come to be known for – the back of the phone reveals an extremely neat design, with the camera modules being the center of attraction.

Alongside the cameras, Nothing has also shown off its iconic white LEDs on the sides and what looks like a vapor chamber on the bottom half.

If this sounds familiar, it is because Perplexity and Nothing have entered into a partnership. While the finer details are not available just yet, it is possible that Nothing could preload the Phone 2a with the Perplexity AI app out of the box.

Nothing and Perplexity could also offer a limited-time premium subscription as a bundle with the phone, but this will only be clear when the phone launches.

For context, Perplexity AI's premium subscription costs $20 per month or $200 per year. It is an AI chatbot app that allows users to choose between different AI models in addition to Perplexity's own model.

Why It Matters: Nothing has revealed the phone's design in a new video ahead of the March 5 launch.

Like Google's Pixel series, the Phone 2a is expected to be a mid-range smartphone at a more affordable price point.

Perplexity has been praised by several tech billionaires, including Nvidia Corp. CEO Jensen Huang. He said he uses the Perplexity AI app "almost every day" alongside OpenAI's ChatGPT.
