Google Photos Gets AI Features That Will Make It Easy To Manage And Organize Images

In a quest to simplify image organization for users, Google GOOGL disclosed a series of AI-driven enhancements for Google Photos on Tuesday.

What Happened: Google, in its blog post, introduced several features designed to tidy up and streamline users’ galleries.

The notable feature is the ‘Photo Stacks’ capability, which groups similar photos taken around the same time. Leveraging AI technology, the feature selects the best photo from the stack. However, the user autonomy is maintained as they can select their favorite photo, modify the stacks, or even turn off the ‘Photo Stacks’ feature.

In addition to photos, the AI also smartly organizes screenshots and document images into convenient albums such as ‘ID’, ‘receipts’, and ‘event information’, thus simplifying the search for these items.

Users can set reminders from screenshots of tickets or event flyers with the new update. It also offers an option to automatically archive screenshots and documents after 30 days, making them invisible from the main gallery but still reachable from the respective albums.

The AI-based updates are gradually being released to Google Photos on Android and iOS platforms.

Why It Matters: This step by Google aims to enhance user experience by leveraging AI technology to declutter and organize their photo galleries. It signifies Google’s commitment to making its services more user-friendly and intuitive. The new features give users more control over their photos and simplify the process of finding specific images or documents. As a result, Google Photos is likely to become an even more essential tool for managing digital assets.
