Marjorie Taylor Greene Proposes Conditions For Israel Funding Amid Ongoing War With Hamas: 'If More Aid Is Needed...'

Amid Israel’s ongoing war with Hamas, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) laid out her conditions for the U.S. to supply aid to Israel.

What Happened: Greene responded to a post by former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, stating that any extra funding for Israel should be sourced from countries sheltering terrorists and organizations backing Hamas.

However, the specifics of how the funds would be redirected to Israel were not outlined by Greene, nor did she name the countries, universities, and organizations she was referencing.

“Appalling!” Greene said, adding that “there is $3.8 billion for Israel in the Defense and State and Foreign Ops bills but the Democrats have done nothing.”

“If more aid is needed it should be taken away from countries allowing this and harboring terrorists and universities and orgs that are Pro-Hamas.”

This came after President Joe Biden demanded Congress to approve a $106 billion funding package containing aid for Israel, as well as funds for Ukraine, U.S.-Mexico border security, and humanitarian assistance for Gaza and Israel.

Bennett posted images depicting acts of anti-Semitism targeting Jewish-owned shops in Paris, France, marked with Stars of David. He cautioned that unless Western nations assist Israel in combating radical Islamic terrorism near its borders, they may witness similar incidents and acts of violence in their own countries.

Why It Matters: On Sunday, Greene announced her opposition to new foreign aid, including support to Israel amid the ongoing war. Greene said, “I will be voting NO on all funding packages for the Ukraine war (as I have from the beginning) and now the Israel war.”

Greene is not the only Republican against aid for Israel. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) has also voiced his disagreement with any new funding, including the proposed $14.3 billion GOP bill.

On the other hand, Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.), a progressive independent, has proposed different requisites for new U.S. aid to Israel, demanding that funds should not be used to inflict civilian casualties in Gaza.
