Many of the positions will be areas where Verizon has committed to expanding internet service in rural and underserved communities with funding partly provided by the American Rescue Plan (ARP).

Tony Lewis, VP of State and Government Affairs Verizon, said, "These jobs help empower individuals and their community and are made possible by local and state governments partnering with Verizon to expand high-speed broadband access to their residents."

The Communications Workers of America (CWA) or the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) will represent the roles. Verizon will likely fill the 1,800 positions by July 2026.

In July, Verizon clocked a sales decline of 3.5% year-on-year to $32.6 billion, missing the consensus of $33.3 billion. Adjusted EPS of $1.21 beat the consensus of $1.16. The quarter marked 418,000 total broadband net additions, reflecting strong demand for fixed wireless and Fios products.

Price Action: VZ shares traded higher by 0.34% at $31.36 on the last check Tuesday.
