Apple Pencil With USB-C Port Is The Most Affordable Yet But Misses Out On Some Key Features

In a move to offer more value to its iPad users, tech behemoth Apple Inc. AAPL has launched a newer, more economical variant of the Apple Pencil with a USB-C port.

What Happened: The third-generation Apple Pencil promises high precision, low latency, and tilt sensitivity. It is the most affordable Apple Pencil that has been launched so far, priced at $79.

The new Apple Pencil has a matte finish with one flat side that magnetically latches onto the iPad for storage. The Apple Pencil pairs and charges with a USB-C cable, making it a useful tool for note-taking, sketching, annotating, and journaling.

The Apple Pencil 3 is compatible with all iPad models equipped with a USB-C port, and it is expected to hit the shelves in early November.

Interestingly, when used with M2 models of iPad Pro, the new Apple Pencil supports hover, providing users with even more precision in sketching and illustrating.

Apple’s extended range of Apple Pencils, tailored for different iPad models and uses, empowers customers to select the best fit for their individual needs.

This is the second accessory that Apple has updated with the USB-C port – during the iPhone 15 launch, Apple launched the AirPods Pro 2 with the USB-C port and no other changes.

Here's What's Missing: While the Apple Pencil 3 is the most affordable one yet, Apple has cut back on some features that the second-generation stylus has.

  • Magnetic wireless charging.
  • Wireless pairing.
  • Double-tap to change tools.
  • Pressure sensitivity.

Here's the updated Apple Pencil portfolio now:

  • Apple Pencil (1st gen): $99.
  • Apple Pencil (2nd gen): $129.
  • Apple Pencil (3rd gen, USB-C): $79.
