GOP Presidential Candidates React To Israel-Hamas War

Over the weekend, Republican presidential candidates have shared their thoughts on the recent attacks on Israel, outlining their perspectives on America’s global role and critiquing President Joe Biden’s approach.

According to a report by CBS News, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis accused Biden’s administration of empowering Iran by letting $6 billion in Iranian assets be unfrozen in exchange for five American hostages. DeSantis argued that this move indirectly funded Hamas, the militant group behind the Gaza attack.

“If Israel is being attacked, I would want to be woken up and engaged in that,” he added.

The Florida Governor countered that if he was president, Iran wouldn’t be in a position to cause such chaos. He also urged Biden to fully support Israel’s use of lethal force to eradicate Hamas.

Other Republican candidates, such as Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and former Vice President Mike Pence, have also weighed in on the situation. While Ramaswamy echoed DeSantis’ remarks about the “fungibility” of funds, Pence called for more military support and aid for Israel.

Former Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) also expressed their support for Israel and criticized the Biden administration’s handling of the situation.

Haley sent a message to Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “Finish them. They should have hell to pay for what they’ve just done,

“Biden’s weakness invited the attack. Biden’s negotiation funded the attack,” Scott wrote in a post.
