A Stranger Got Control Of Facebook's UK Page…And What Happened Next Is Just Hilarious

An unknown individual unexpectedly gained access to Meta Platforms Inc. META-owned Facebook‘s UK page, resulting in an unusual sequence of posts that left onlookers in stitches. 

What Happened: For a brief and bewildering period, social media users were treated to a remarkable spectacle when an unidentified individual somehow found themselves in control of Facebook’s UK page. 

The mysterious admin, who goes by the handle name @durranee on X (formerly Twitter), appeared just as confused as the online audience. 

“No Idea why I suddenly have access to post stuff as Facebook. Or have I got it completely wrong and I’m not posting as Facebook UK?

This accidental admin took on the persona of Facebook UK and proceeded to engage in an unexpected and hilarious social media takeover. The posts ranged from political commentary to playful banter, leaving netizens both amused and bewildered.

One post humorously called for the release of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, adding an element of international intrigue to the mix. Another addressed cricket bodies, the ICC and BCCI, urging them to issue visas for the Cricket World Cup 2023 being held in India and advocating for the inclusion of Pakistani journalists and fans.

Facebook did not immediately respond to Benzinga’s request for comments. 

The stranger continued to captivate the audience with their antics despite the real Facebook team eventually catching wind of the situation and taking the page offline in a desperate bid to regain control. 

Yet, just before the virtual curtain fell on this unusual performance, the stranger managed to have one final laugh by posting, “Seriously, stop deleting my posts. I’m being nice here.”

The internet was abuzz with reactions, with one user saying, “He/She used temporary power for good, Facebook glitch on the right person.” Another suggested, “They should hire him to manage it officially lol.” 

The stranger’s X account seems to be gaining followers gradually. However, Facebook has apparently disabled their account. 

While the exact details of how this peculiar incident occurred remain a mystery, it serves as a reminder that “with great power comes great responsibility” — and the stranger used their power well.
