Pro-Trump Historian Tells Tucker Carlson America Is In 'The Middle Of A Revolution' Amid Ex-President's Civil Fraud Trial

Historian Victor Davis Hanson told former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson that America is "in the middle of a revolution."

What Happened: In a recent episode of “Tucker on X,” the duo discussed the ongoing fraud trial against former President Donald Trump.

Hanson highlighted that the Democrats see Trump as a significant threat to their power retention. He mentioned that the trial was part of a broader effort to eliminate this "existential threat."

"I think they've come to the conclusion that Trump is an existential threat and by association, half the country is to their vision of what they want to transform us into, and so they feel that whatever means necessary are justified," Davis said.

The recent episode also delved into the New York City civil fraud trial. Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that Trump had misled financial institutions by overstating the value of his properties, which led to the revocation of his business license.

Hanson further instanced that Democrats were targeting key institutions such as the Electoral College, the Senate filibuster, and the border. "They feel that they're at a stage now where their agenda doesn't appeal to 51% of the people, and they either have to bring in new constituencies or change the system, the entire system of which we're acculturated to, to retain power, and that's what they're willing to do," Hanson said.

"We don't realize we're in the middle of a revolution," he said, adding, "We think that we're still playing within the same sidelines or parameters, and we're not. Everything's under negotiation."

The historian also stressed the necessity for Republicans to gain control of the political apparatus of the country through elections rather than focusing on migrating to red states or exiting popular culture. "There are legitimate efforts to rectify and stop this madness, and let's see what happens in 2024."

Why It Matters: Hanson is a known advocate of former president Trump. He wrote a book in 2019 titled “The Case for Trump.” Trump commended the book, where Hanson portrays the former president’s harsh language and provocative style as “unrefined authenticity.” The book also lauds Trump for his exceptional knack for provoking and stirring up media and political adversaries.

One of the numerous legal cases involving the former president as he runs for the 2024 presidential election is a civil lawsuit against Trump and his businesses in New York. Former President Trump made an appearance in the court Monday for the beginning of the trial.

The judge ordered several of Trump’s business licenses to be rescinded as punishment after he found the former president liable for consistently overvaluing his assets and net worth to secure loans.

Before walking into the courtroom, Trump attacked New York Attorney General Letitia James for bringing the case against him. “This has to do with election interference, plain and simple,” Trump said.
