The iOS 17.1 beta update is currently available to developers, and the public beta is expected to be released later this week or early next week.

Note that these beta updates might have bugs, so we recommend caution before you give it a spin.

iOS 17.1 Beta 1 Features: The first iOS 17.1 beta brings a couple of new features that were expected to be available in the iOS 17 public release but didn't make it.

AirDrop over the internet is now possible with the iOS 17.1 beta 1 update. Apple introduced this as part of the iOS 17 update at WWDC.

If you have initiated an AirDrop transfer with another user but are moving away, the transfer will continue over the internet after the devices disconnect over the local network.

A new option in settings allows you to enable mobile data as well as Wi-Fi for these AirDrop internet transfers.

Apple Music also gets some important new features, including the ability to mark songs and albums as ‘Favorite'. Over time, Apple says that these favorite songs and albums will be used to automatically generate playlists, which sounds like a very useful feature.
