Trump's Deposition Hearing Involving Ex-FBI Officials Scheduled For Next Month

Former President Donald Trump is set to be deposed in October in relation to lawsuits filed by ex-FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.

According to an NBC News report on Thursday, the deposition is set for Oct. 17, where Trump will answer questions for two hours. Strzok has claimed wrongful termination, while Page, who resigned from the FBI in 2018, alleges privacy violations linked to the public disclosure of her text messages with Strzok.

A federal appeals court this month rejected the Justice Department's attempt to prevent Trump’s deposition. Top federal officials, including FBI Director Christopher Wray, have already been deposed.

The Justice Department has consistently opposed Trump's deposition, stating that previous testimonies by federal officials revealed no significant evidence to suggest Trump’s involvement in Strzok's termination.

U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, who ruled this year that Trump could be deposed, pointed out that Trump had publicly acknowledged his involvement in the case, which warranted a deposition.

The deposition may be delayed if a government shutdown occurs, and the Justice Department requests a pause in civil actions where it is a party. However, lawyers for Strzok and Page have stated they will oppose any efforts to delay the deposition.
