Elon Musk's 'Demon Mode' Trigger — Biographer Reveals What Really Sets Him Off

In a recent Twitter Space, famed tech journalist and biographer Walter Isaacson revealed the factors that trigger Elon Musk’s intense determination, commonly referred to as “demon mode,” offering a factual glimpse into the catalysts behind the tech mogul’s mindset.

What Happened: During the X (formerly Twitter) Space session, Isaacson, renowned for his biographies of iconic figures like Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and the founding father of the U.S. Benjamin Franklin, provided valuable insights into the multifaceted personality of the tech billionaire.

Isaacson, who spent approximately three years working closely with Musk, disclosed that the triggers for Musk’s “demon mode” can be attributed to several key factors.

As Isaacson revealed, one primary trigger is Musk’s reaction when he encounters individuals who challenge him without a factual basis.

According to the biographer, Musk has an uncanny ability to absorb a vast array of information, often surpassing the knowledge of experts and analysts on his own team.

He recounted instances where Musk would confront a problem on the factory floor and take it upon himself to resolve it, even rewriting code if necessary. “I think he minds it when they are confidently wrong.”

Moreover, Musk’s “demon mode” can be ignited when he encounters skepticism or naysayers, especially when they dismiss his ambitious goals or innovations.

Isaacson pointed out that Musk’s fatherErrol Musk, also exhibited mood swings.” I think what generally might set Elon Musk off is when somebody’s not listening, or somebody says something can’t be done,” Isaacson explained.

Why It’s Important: It has been reported that Musk has a direct communication style and that one doesn’t always know what to expect from the billionaire.

Previously, Isaacson said that unlike his brother Kimbal, Musk is neither endowed nor burdened with empathy and, as a result, can be a much tougher leader.

It was also reported that Musk’s tumultuous tenure as the head of Twitter (now X) was marked by a barrage of constant demands that left staff concerned about his forgetfulness.
