Ron DeSantis Says Trump's Chances To Win Presidency Is 'Close To Zero' Amid Legal Woes

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has publically expressed doubts about the electability of former President Donald Trump, who is currently facing four criminal indictments, the Washington Post reported.

According to the  DeSantis’s remarks were made in a CBS Evening News interview on Wednesday. The governor questioned whether voters would choose a nominee facing 91 criminal counts.

DeSantis, although previously supportive of Trump, now argues that a convicted nominee has a slim chance of winning the presidency.

“I think the chance of getting elected president after being convicted of a felony is as close to zero as you can get,” DeSantis said.

Additionally, DeSantis criticised Trump’s financial record, noting the significant increase in national debt during Trump’s presidency. DeSantis argued that Trump broke a promise by adding almost $8 trillion to the national debt.

These criticisms come as part of a broader set of rhetorical criticisms DeSantis has recently made against Trump, as the two compete for the Republican nomination for the presidency.
