Delta Passengers Injured from Severe Turbulence Amid UK Flight Cancellations

Delta Air Lines, Inc DAL recently confronted an unexpected challenge when one of its flights en route to Atlanta encountered severe turbulence. The unforeseen event led to several injuries, prompting immediate medical response upon the plane's landing.

While on its journey from Milan, Italy, the plane carrying 151 passengers and a crew of 14 experienced these treacherous conditions roughly 40 miles northeast of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

After the bumpy encounter, the Airbus A350 managed to touch down safely just before 7 p.m. at its intended destination, NBC News reports.

Upon landing, first responders were at the scene, providing necessary medical care to the injured passengers and crew. The aircraft's reception was well-coordinated, with 11 individuals swiftly transported to local hospitals for further treatment.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has taken notice of the incident and announced its plans to investigate further. They aim to understand the underlying causes behind the turbulence and ensure the safety of future flights in similar conditions.

The airline industry was affected after the U.K. airspace was hit by a network-wide failure for air traffic control systems this week.

Over a million people were due to fly into or out of the U.K. on Bank Holiday Monday, one of the year's busiest travel days.

The fault led to the scrapping of 232 flights departing the U.K., the equivalent of 8% of all departures.

It also led to the cancellation of 271 flights to arrive in the U.K., which equates to almost 10% of the total.

Price Action: DAL shares are trading lower by 0.67% at $43.48 on the last check Wednesday.
