Rudy Giuliani has reportedly urged ex-President Donald Trump to help with his surmounting legal bills.
According to CNN, Giuliani and his attorney Robert Costello met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, Florida in late April. The duo attempted to convince Trump that assisting with Giuliani’s legal fees would be in his best interest.
Despite being famously frugal, Trump verbally agreed to aid with a portion of the legal costs, without specifying an amount or timeline.
CNN sources revealed that Trump’s Save America PAC paid $340,000 to Trustpoint, a data vendor hosting Giuliani’s records. This payment was meant to offset Giuliani’s outstanding bill with the firm.
However, no additional payments have been made since then, despite Giuliani’s ongoing legal challenges, including a defamation lawsuit by voting technology company, Smartmatic.
Some within Trump’s circle are reportedly surprised by his reluctance to support Giuliani financially, especially considering the pressure the latter could face from prosecutors charging Trump.
