- Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has recalled 999 of its sports utility vehicles (SUV) that were shipped to the U.S.
- The decision was made after a malfunctioning software posed the risk of the car's main screen blanking out, reported Bloomberg.
- The automaker is expected to produce an over-the-air software update that will help fix the issue.
- The company said only 111 vehicles that's being recalled are in customer hands.
- VinFast's fist bunch of vehicles to be sold in the U.S. did not go well with the customers.
- It has been six months since the first batch were shipped to California, with the second batch being shipped in April.
- "We are new players and of course we will have issues," the report quoted CEO Le Thi Thu Thuy.
- VinFast plans to send its first vehicles to Europe in July and is considering building a factory in North Carolina.
