Elon Musk Channels Johnny Cash, SpaceX Creates 'A Burning Thing' To Sear Your Steak This Summer

Zinger Key Points
  • The SpaceX merch store has a new item listed for sale.
  • Elon Musk has introduced several highly collectible merchandise products from his companies for his fans.

Renowned for spearheading groundbreaking innovations across multiple industries, Elon Musk has established and managed companies that revolutionize electric transportation, space exploration, and subterranean infrastructure. Additionally, he has become synonymous with the launch of highly sought-after merchandise tied to his companies, frequently offering collectible items that fly off the shelves.

What Happened: A new product has found its way to the SpaceX shop for consumers to pre-order. The item coincides with the planned launch of Starship by the space company, which was scheduled for Monday, April 17 before being delayed.

The fully reusable transportation system from SpaceX was recently cleared for launch by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and could carry crew and cargo to the Moon, Mars and into space in the future.

While most people won’t be able to afford a trip to space with SpaceX or other space travel companies, they can take a look at merchandise available on the SpaceX website, including an item that will likely be popular during this summer's grilling season.

The Starship Torch is listed for pre-sale on the SpaceX website with a price of $175. The item, which was shared by Tesla influencer Sawyer Merritt on Twitter, is expected to be available during the third quarter of 2023.

“Designed to generate a windproof flame worthy of its namesake, the handheld Starship Torch will make easy work of searing anything from steak to meringue. Outside of the kitchen, fire up Starship to light candles or your fireplace. Who needs weak matches when you’ve got the power of Starship in your hands,” the website reads.

The description of the new Starship Torch also channels Johnny Cash and the song “Ring of Fire.”

“The man in black, Johnny Cash knew a thing or two about burning desire. But love isn’t the only thing that burns. Sometimes you just want to caramelize the sugar on a crème brulee or melt some cheese without all the subtext.”

The site calls the new product collectible, functional and says it “burns, burns, burns.”

Outside of being a flame for the grill or to light candles, the site says the Starship also serves as a 1:200 “bad-ass” scale model of the SpaceX Starship spacecraft that is “fit for display.”

The item is refillable with standard butane canisters.

Users can buy the new item with credit cards or Apple Pay. Shipping and handling varies by state and country.

Why It’s Important: For fans of Musk and his companies, many will remember the famous "Not a Flamethrower" that was sold by The Boring Company.

The "Not a Flamethrower" has grown in legend and also got some people in trouble for ordering and obtaining the item previously.

Several warnings are listed on the site for the Starship Torch including that it is “100% not a toy.”

The new item from SpaceX follows several merchandise and product offerings from Tesla that include Christmas sweaters, blankets, replica cars, tequila and belt buckles, several of which were available to purchase with Dogecoin.

Tesla also recently launched a beer to celebrate its Gigafactory in Germany, but the item was only available to a limited number of European countries.
