Baidu Releases New Products To Enhance Intelligent Driving

Chinese artificial intelligence company Baidu Inc BIDU revealed a series of new products to enhance intelligent driving on Sunday, in a bid to be part of the transition to smarter cars in the future.

What Happened: Baidu released new products covering intelligent driving, cabin and maps at an automotive intelligence conference on Sunday. The new products provide intelligent driving, auto-navigation and valet parking.

The company also upgraded its autonomous parking solution Apollo Parking, it said in a statement.

Baidu sees the market penetration of car models equipped with level 2 above advanced intelligent driving solution, valet parking, highway navigation pilot and city navigation pilot to be over 15% by 2026.

“In 2026, when intelligent cars become more prevalent, new customers will be less likely to consider cars without intelligent driving capabilities,” said Senior Corporate Vice President of Baidu Zhenyu Li.

Last month, Baidu received a permit to provide fully driverless robotaxi services in Beijing and became the first provider of fully driverless robotaxi services in the capital city of any country worldwide.
