Microsoft's GitHub Lets Go Of India's Engineering Team, Affects Over 100 Jobs

Microsoft Corp MSFT developer platform GitHub laid off its entire engineering team in India virtually.
Github has eliminated over 100 jobs in the South Asian market, TechCrunch reports citing familiar sources.
GitHub notified the employees about the job cut on Tuesday.

Gergely Orosz, a former software engineer who runs a popular newsletter, Pragmatic Engineer, first tweeted about the downsizing.
A GitHub spokesperson told TechCrunch that the layoff is part of its streamlining effort disclosed in February.
GitHub said earlier that it would cut roughly 10% of its workforce by the quarter ending in March.
In January, Microsoft confirmed it is reducing its headcount by roughly 10,000 employees, equating to 4% - 5% of the total headcount.
