Did You Say Cocaine Bar? Bolivia Has One But It Changes Locations Every Month

The world's first and only - that we know of - cocaine bar is called Ruta 36, and it is located in La Paz, the capital of Bolivia.

And, since cocaine is illegal in the country, the unusual bar must change location every month to avoid falling into the hands of the police.

According to MOR.BO, cocaine is served by the gram on a silver platter at the illegal lounge bar.

How much does it cost to enter the only such bar in the world? The price to enter is $5, and a gram of cocaine costs $15.

According to information from Lad Bible, it is highly unlikely to come across locals inside the nomadic establishment, as it is mostly intended for tourists. This is most likely due to the fact that La Paz has recently become a tourist destination for users of the drug.

It is also worth noting that Bolivia is the world's third-largest producer of the coca plant, behind Colombia and Peru.

How To Find The Cocaine Bar?

Logically, as its location changes constantly, finding the Ruta 36 bar is no easy task. But, say those in the know, the best way to locate it is to ask cab drivers.

In a 2019 feature, British media outlet Stylist advised: "There is no address, so curious tourists who want to find it have to do what we did: rely on La Paz's cab driver information network. The best place to find a knowledgeable cabbie is outside one of the city's party hostels (Loki or Wild Rover are good bets), but it seems most drivers in the city center will have an idea."
