NanoViricides NNVC shares are trading higher after the company announced the drug candidates it's developing against the coronavirus demonstrated safety and tolerability in an animal model.

“The tested drug candidates were safe and well tolerated, thereby clearing the path for further development towards a treatment for SARS-CoV-2 infection that has caused the current COVID-19 pandemic,” the company said in a press release.

NanoViricides is a nano-biopharmaceutical company which is engaged in discovering, developing and commercializing therapeutics to advance the care of patients suffering from life-threatening viral infections.

NanoViricides shares were trading 28.61% higher at $8.90 at the time of publication on Wednesday. The stock has a 52-week high of $19.20 and a 52-week low of $1.27.
