Snoop Dogg Did Not Give Up Smoke: Rapper Explains Publicity Stunt

Last week, Snoop Dogg shocked the world when he said he was quitting smoke. However, this week he confirmed it was all a publicity stunt, an advertisement for Solo Brands DTC's Solo Stove, a smokeless fire pit brand.

A few days ago, the famed rapper and cannabis advocate, Snoop Dogg, surprised his global following by declaring his intention to give up smoking. The announcement, which he shared across his social media platforms to over 120 million followers, was unexpected given his long-standing public identity intertwined with marijuana use. "After much consideration & conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke," stated Calvin Broadus, known professionally as Snoop Dogg.

However, the narrative took an intriguing turn with the release of an ad for Solo Stove featuring Snoop Dogg. In the ad, the rapper says, "I have an announcement. I'm giving up smoke. I know what you're thinking. Snoop, smoke is kind of your whole thing. But I'm done with it. Done with the coughing and my clothes smelling all sticky-icky. I'm going smokeless. Solo Stove fixed fire. They took out the smoke. Clever."

According to Solo Stove, the company has officially partnered with Snoop Dogg, branding him as its "spokesman." This partnership aligns with the company’s goal to eliminate smoke from outdoor settings. "I love a good fire outside but the smoke was too much. Solo Stove fixed fire and took out the smoke," Snoop commented, affirming his support for the brand’s smokeless fire pit technology

"We’re stoked to have a product so good, it even inspired Snoop to go smokeless," added  John Merris, CEO of Solo Brands. "As the most popular smokeless fire pit in the world, Solo Stove is all about bringing people together and creating a vibe that encourages you to sit back, relax, and enjoy your time with friends and family. Snoop, like Solo, is about good moments, and we’re looking forward to welcoming even more people to the Solo Stove family."

The final confirmation arrived last night when Snoop posted an image of a blunt roach on his Instagram account.

A Long-Lasting Love Affair

Snoop Dogg's association with cannabis is not just part of his brand but a recurrent theme in his music and public statements. His debut in Dr. Dre's 1992 album "The Chronic" and his subsequent references to marijuana in his lyrics and interviews have cemented this image. Additionally, his ventures in the cannabis industry, including the Merry Jane media company and investments in Casa Verde Capital highlight his deep involvement in this sector.

This isn't the first time Snoop Dogg has publicly stated an intention to quit smoking. Around two decades ago, he made a similar declaration, citing his desire to be a more responsible father. The recurring theme of quitting, followed by continued or renewed association with cannabis, adds a layer of complexity to his public image. Stay tuned for more details.
