Boost Your Wine Quality With Hemp, Cannabis Users In A Driving Trial And Other Global Updates

Victoria Cannabis Users To Participate In Driving Trial

Under new laws introduced to the Victorian parliament the week in Australia, medical cannabis users could participate in a trial evaluating the influence of marijuana on their road skills. As part of this trial, they would be allowed to drive a vehicle on closed roads, reported The Age.

Under the 2016 law, Victoria became the first state to allow the use of medicinal cannabis, any trace of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is considered an offense.

Currently, Tasmania is the only Australian state that offers legal protection to drivers found with THC in their body fluids.

Boost Your Wine Quality With Hemp: New Research Tells You How

According to new research by two New Zealand experts, Dr. Mark Krasnow and grape grower Kirsty Harkness, hemp could be a suitable cover crop for Sauvignon Blanc vineyards in Marlborough, reported High Times citing New Zealand Wine Grower.

The three-year study revealed that the presence of hemp had no impact on vine growth and instead had positive effects on both the soil and wines.

The hemp plants showed adaptability without needing the extra watering. Moreover, it enhanced the wine quality compared to grapes grown without the presence of hemp.

“Hemp plants grew large roots to at least 30 cm and were able to grow in compacted tractor wheel tracks in the row, where the root system can alleviate compaction caused by vineyard operations,” researchers said. “Juice/must samples from the 2019 harvest showed a higher diversity of yeast species from the hemp area than the control and produced perceptibly better wine.”

Colombian President Calls Out Hypocrisy As New York Embraces Cannabis Sales

Colombia President Gustavo Petro called the fact that cannabis sales are now legal in New York, a country that kicked off anti-drug law decades ago, an “enormous hypocrisy,” reported Marijuana Moment.

“Marijuana is sold today in Times Square,” Petro said earlier this month, revealing a new national drug policy that seeks to impose less strict criminal penalties. “It smelled on all the streets, all the way around the corner, and they sold it…like any other product. I suppose they charge taxes and that New York City or the state of New York lives partially from them.”

He stressed that the War on Drugs has resulted in more violence.

“That’s where the war on drugs began,” Petro said, according to the translation provided by Marijuana Moment. “How many people have been imprisoned? How many people have died? Because undoubtedly illegality brought violence.”
