Musk pointed to a previous “Twitter Files” thread regarding the role of the GEC in flagging accounts of “Russian personas and proxies.” The thread was posted by the journalist Matt Taibbi.
When a Twitter user asked Musk to stay safe, pointing to how disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his prison cell, Musk said, “Everybody dies some day.”

Why It Matters: Musk said last month that the GEC had demanded a suspension of 250,000 accounts including those of journalists and a Canadian official.
The GEC was perceived to be political by Yoel Roth, the former head of trust and safety at Twitter.
Taibbi said the interaction between the GEC and Twitter led to a “rare public disagreement” between the social media platform and state officials.
